Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist writer, journalist, and photographer who has reported on conflict zones over the last more than 45 years. Her research focuses on human suffering and disasters. Curry has written about the conflict zones of Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in Agana) was an American TV anchor, reporter and journalist. She was most famous as a correspondent on the Today Show, a daily morning newscast produced by the National Broadcasting Co. Curry was well-known for her coverage of catastrophes caused by natural causes and humanitarian crises which occurred in war-ravaged areas. Curry was born in Japan and educated by a Japanese mom. Her father was an U.S. Navy sailor. After World War II, her parents met while her father was serving in Japan. Due to her father's military service the family has moved around quite a bit. The family eventually moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. When she graduated from University of Oregon, Curry obtained a bachelor's degree in journalism degree in 1978. She was exposed to different cultures and environments throughout her childhood probably contributed to her empathy in her approach to issues of international significance. Ashland in Oregon is the location where Curry received her degree. She began a career that led to a lucrative career by working as a broadcasting intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford. The first female news reporter at the station when she was just 22. In the following years, she worked as an anchor/reporter for KGW in Portland Oregon. Four years later she moved to Los Angeles as a reporter for KCBS-TV. She won 2 Emmy Awards during the six years she spent with this station.
